Curating the Chaos

It’s a Kaweco Sport party!

This was a week full of paper, ink, and pen play. While I usually try to keep my currently inked to a reasonable five pens at a time, I decided on Thursday night that I need more. Four more to be precise. My pen pouch is as full as it can be and the ink options keep me focused on slinging words and ink across the paper. A clean up of my TN was also needed because I really wasn’t feeling my paper options. I sat down on Thursday night after I inked up the pens to do some notebook swapping and little bit of surgery (aka I pulled out some written on pages and remade the notebook as a blank slate).

This has left my current TN notebook lineup as follows:

  • Hobonichi 2023 Weekly Insert (a must have where I write my daily activities and accomplishments)

  • A6 Cafe Notes grid notebook (my daily journal and brain dump space)

  • Tomoe River Notebook from Paper Penguin (for scribbling)

  • Handstitched notebook with Kokuyo Perpanep sara sara paper inside (for more scribbling)

  • Handstitched notebook with Kokuyo business paper with a printed French-rule grid (made this forever ago and the sizing didn’t quite work out, but scribble worthy regardless).

  • Handstitched Cosmo Air Light notebook with a printed 3 mm grid

Post inking and making sure I can still fit them in my mini pouch. My copper and fireblue liliputs have their own Rickshaw duo pen case.

Currently Inked

Birmingham Pen Co. Gamboge - Kaweco Sport x Elite Royalty Crown Blue B - Birmingham Pens has their own aesthetic when it comes to ink. A ton of excellent shading options and more muted color palette dominate this brand. Gamboge is a subtle orange shader and one of my favorites that I have. It’s my current contribution to #killwinterwithorange

Colorverse Office Blue - Kaweco Sport Iridescent Pearl M CSI - This ink has been on my mind and it is an excellent ink in this nib. I am a huge fan of Colorverse inks and I love their take on the “standard” inks. I really might need a bottle of Office Black too.

Ferris Wheel Press Cloak and Forest - Kaweco Sport Burgundy B - I swapped this ink into a different pen and nib combination in the hope that I would get inspired to pick it up. Green and green-leaning teals aren’t inks I usually reach for, although objectively this is a really pretty ink. This ink will release on March 3rd.

Colorverse Rising Reflections - Kaweco Sport Macchiato 1.5 - Going to finish out the month with this one and then swap it out for March. This is one of my favorite yellows - it’s readable, shades, and the blue shimmer keeps it fun.

Ferris Wheel Press Beaver Dam Brown - Kaweco Sport x Elite Royalty Deep Red BB - I was missing a brown in my line up so I dug through my samples and chose this dark, cool-tone brown. It’s super easy to get enamored with all of Ferris Wheel Press’s shimmer inks, but their standard inks are just as unique. Brown inks look great in this pen.

Ferris Wheel Press The Fluttering Heart - Kaweco liliput green M stub - This ink grew on me over the last week and a half. I originally had it in a flex nib, but I don’t find those that useful for everyday writing - so I swapped it into a stub nib. This ink is a lovely blush color with shimmer. It is releasing March 3rd and is the 2023 Special Edition offering.

Diamine Blue Peppermint - Kaweco liliput copper 14K B - The line up needed a second blue tone ink and I tapped an OG Inkvent ink. This is a turquoise with blue shimmer. One of my Thursday night chaos fills, so I haven’t written with it much yet.

Diamine Cozy Up - Kaweco liliput fireblue 14K M ‘journaler’ - I have been wanting to play with this one since it popped up in the 2022 Inkvent calendar, but kept talking myself out it. In my Thursday night refill party, I decided to just go for it with a partial fill. This is, indeed, a cozy red/pink. It started out a little dry in this nib so I added some Vanness Pens White Lightning to it for flow - big journal buddy since the ink up.
